AmpliTube is a mobile guitar amp and effects system for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. AmpliTube iRig, a combination of AmpliTube mobile app and iRig accessory adapter, represents a solution for guitar and bass players to play through an iPhone.

TransAudio Group in Las Vegas announces that until August 31, 2010, all purchases of Bock Audio 151 large-diaphragm vocal condensers made from authorized U.S. dealers are eligible for a $300 rebate from TransAudio Group, Bock Audio’s worldwide distributor. CSS Studios reports that artists from its Todd-AO, Soundelux, Sound One and Modern Music facilities have received a total of seven nominations for sound in contention for the 2010 Emmy Awards. Todd-AO Re-Recording Mixers Michael Minkler and Daniel J. Leahy received four nominations for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or Movie for HBO’s The Pacific (Parts Two, Five, Eight and Nine).

Cinema Audio Society President, Edward L. Moskowitz, CAS, announced that the organization would honor production sound mixer Jeffrey S. Wexler, CAS (pictured), with the CAS Career Achievement Award, the Cinema Audio Society’s highest accolade, to be presented at the 47th CAS Awards on February 19, 2011 at the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium-Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Moskowitz also announced the schedule for the CAS Awards.

Sonnox Ltd. in Oxfordshire, England, has hired Ruth Almgill (pictured) as a second support engineer to help look after its expanding customer base. Almgill joins the Sonnox team from her previous post as a studio manager at the BBC World Service, where she mixed live radio programs and complex long-form features, and engineered live remote broadcasts.

InfoComm rolled back into Las Vegas from June 5 to 11, 2010, and by any standards this was a monster event, attracting 32,002 AV professionals from more than 90 countries. It was definitely the place to be for anyone serious about audio and video systems and digital signage/display technologies, but since merging with the NSCA Expo several years ago, it’s also become the premiere event for live sound technologies.
